A Ryan Kalish pinch-hit double followed by a Dustin Pedroia single and David Ortiz sacrifice fly in the 10th inning gave the Red Sox their first lead in a game since Friday. More importantly, it gave them a 2-1 win over the Mariners, marking their first extra-inning victory this season.
Pedroia tied the game for the Sox with his first homer since May 10 (165 at-bats), a one-out solo shot over the left-field fence coming on Seattle starter Jason Vargas' 114th pitch.
