Optimists in Boston have been preaching patience as the Red Sox start to return injured players to the lineup. On Sunday, two of those recently returned players -- Will Middlebrooks and Jacoby Ellsbury -- combined to go 6-for-9 and lead the Sox to a 7-3 victory over the Rays in the final game of a three-game series in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Middlebrooks, in his third game back from a hamstring strain that cost him a week, was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs. Ellsbury, who injured his shoulder on April 13 and was out until this series, went 3-for-5 with a double.
